PS6 Release: Features Gamers Crave in the Next-Gen Console
Anticipation for the PS6 is high, despite the relatively recent release of the PS5. However, it’s not uncommon for console manufacturers like Sony to plan for their next-generation consoles well in advance. It may be a few years before we see a new mainline PlayStation console. Speculating about the future and when we can experience it is exciting. Sony has already taken steps by trademarking the names ps6, PS7, PS8, PS9, and PS10, indicating their long-term vision.
In the meantime, Sony will soon release a PS5 Slim or PS5 Pro. It follows the pattern of previous console generations. Mid-generation hardware revisions, such as the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro, were introduced several years after the original console’s release. However, the exact timing for such releases remains uncertain. We immerse ourselves in the current generation and enjoy the best PS5 games. It’s natural to ponder the future. We’ve compiled a wishlist of features we’d like to see in the PS6. Additionally, we have our expectations regarding the timeline for its release.
When is the ps6 coming out?
The ps6 release date is still far into the future. Considering that the PS5 was just launched in November 2020, it’s doubtful that Sony will release a completely new playstation 6 consoles. We can expect several years before a new console is introduced. Typically, there is a gap of around six to seven years between PlayStation console launches. For instance, the PS4 was released in 2013, followed by the PS5 in 2020.
During an interview with Game Informer, Masayasu Ito, Sony’s Executive VP of Hardware Engineering, confirmed the expected life cycle of the PS5. He mentioned that it is approximately 6-7 years. We should not expect to see the PS5 until at least 2026. Masayasu explained that the new platform cycle used to last seven to ten years. Still, it only lasts six to seven years due to technology’s rapid development and evolution. Sony intends to adapt to the rapid technological advancements by adopting a six to seven-year cycle. It allows them to incorporate hardware changes and technological advances. This approach was tested with the mid-cycle launch of the PS4 Pro. Following a similar roadmap to the PS4, it is probable that Sony will release a PS5 Pro or PS5 Slim around the middle of this console’s life cycle, which could be around 2023 or 2024.
A More Compact Console
The PS5 stands out as a colossal console, holding the title of the largest console in modern history. However, size doesn’t always equate to superiority, and the PS5’s dimension can pose challenges for those lacking ample space to accommodate it. Let’s face it, only a few of us have the luxury of owning a shelving using large enough to house it comfortably. With the ps6 (and potentially a PS5 Slim Edition), we anticipate that Sony will learn from this drawback and strive to create a smaller, more streamlined next-generation console. It would make it more practical for a broader range of users while ensuring sufficient airflow for optimal performance.
Improved Affordability and Expandable Internal Storage
While it is technically possible to expand the internal storage of the PS5 by removing the side panel and installing a compatible NVMe SSD after a software update from Sony, it’s a rather complicated process. These compatible SSDs must meet or exceed the existing drive specifications and can be costly. As a result, many players might opt for external storage options, which unfortunately don’t harness the full potential of the PS5’s power. With the ps6, we hope that Sony will address this by making the expansion of internal storage a more straightforward and user-friendly experience. Taking inspiration from the Xbox Series X’s expandable storage card, Sony could provide a similar solution that offers both affordability and ease of use.
Integrated Bluetooth Audio Support – No Dongle Required for Official Headset
It’s mind-boggling that in 2020, a newly launched gaming console like the PS5 required users to connect a USB dongle receiver to utilize their wireless headphones. Seriously, Sony? For the ps6, it’s high time to integrate Bluetooth audio support directly into the console. Let’s avoid unnecessary dongles and enjoy a more seamless gaming experience.
Wireless Charging for Controllers/Headsets – Convenient Placement on top of the Console
While the Sony charging Dock PS5 Dual Sense controllers work well and allow for easy charging, we don’t want yet another piece of hardware cluttering our TV area. Sony should take inspiration from the smartphone industry and incorporate a wireless charging pad on the top of the ps 6. It would enable users to place their controllers on the console’s surface for charging. It could even extend to supporting wireless charging for headphones, a media remote, and other peripherals.
Wire-Free and Zero-Latency TV Connection
The tangle of wires behind our entertainment centers is a headache. The PlayStation 5 is partly to blame. We have power cables, HDMI connections, a separate plug block for the controller charging base, and additional cables for accessories like the HD camera and future PSVR 2. It’s a mess. With the ps6, we expect a streamlined setup with only a single power cable while everything else connects wirelessly – without noticeable lag or latency. Let’s embrace a wire-free gaming experience without compromising performance.
